Canada’s Sean McColl was a double winner at the Youth World Championships in Imst, Austria, last weekend, taking gold in both lead climbing and speed in his age group. McColl, a 19-year-old from Vancouver who did his first 5.14 when he was 12, also won gold in his age group at the Youth World Championships in 2002, 2003, and 2004. He has finished as high 11th in adult World Cup competition and ninth in a bouldering World Cup.

No other North American won an event at the World Championships, but 15-year-old Tiffany Hensley from Southern California was a double silver medalist in lead climbing and speed.
