Nose Speed Record: Hans Florine Interviewed

PodClimber.com has produced an exclusive interview with legendary speed climber Hans Florine about his and Yuji Hirayama's October 12, 2008 record-fast ascent of The Nose on El Capitan, Yosemite, California. The new speed record now stands at 2:37:05. They beat their previous record set in July, 2008 by 6 minutes! October 2008 marks the 50th Anniversary of The Nose route on the Captian since Warren Harding spent 45 days making the first ascent of this big wall in 1958.

Speed demon Hans Florine has been climbing for over 25 years, has three X Games gold medals in speed climbing, and has climbed The Nose 70 times. Check out Climbing.com's Masters Of Stone page by Eric Perlman for more information and video footage of their the July, 2008 ascent.

When not breaking speed records on El Cap Hirayama is continuing to push himself and recently sent his first V14 boulder problem in April, 2008.
